Blob Drop

Blob Drop is a colourful merge puzzle where you drop soft, bouncy blobs into a container and combine matching ones to create larger versions. The idea is easy to learn, but space becomes increasingly valuable as the cup fills. I find placing smaller blobs near matching pieces more useful than dropping everything into the centre, because one badly positioned piece can block several future merges.

The current Poki listing confirms Eray Zesen as the developer, a May 2024 release and a December 2024 latest update.

About Blob Drop

Blob Drop follows the familiar Suika-style merge formula.

Different blobs fall into a cup one at a time. When two blobs of the same type touch, they combine into a larger blob. Your objective is to keep repeating those merges while preventing the container from overflowing.

Blob Drop Gameplay

A new blob appears above the container.

Move it horizontally until you find a useful position, then drop it. Matching blobs merge automatically when they come into contact.

Blob Drop Merge System

The main rule is straightforward:

Two matching blobs → One larger blob

Every successful merge creates a higher-level piece and frees some space in the container.

That sounds simple, but larger blobs take up more room and can change how the surrounding pieces settle.

Blob Drop Physics

Blobs do not behave like perfectly rigid blocks.

They bounce, roll and settle after being dropped, which means the final position may be slightly different from where you first expected it to land.

I find it useful to leave a little extra room around an intended merge instead of assuming both pieces will stay perfectly still.

Blob Drop Cup

The cup acts as your limited playing area.

As more blobs accumulate, the available space shrinks. If a blob spills over the top, the run ends.

This makes board management just as important as creating large merges.

Creating Bigger Blobs

Larger blobs are created through repeated matching.

A small blob may need several generations of combinations before it reaches one of the biggest forms available.

Because of that, it helps to think in chains instead of individual drops.

Blob Drop High Score

Blob Drop is built around high-score play rather than traditional stages.

The longer you keep merging successfully, the more opportunities you have to increase your score and create larger blobs.

The run ends when the container becomes too full and a piece crosses the upper limit.

Blob Drop Strategy

Try to keep similar blobs reasonably close together.

Avoid burying a useful small piece beneath much larger blobs because reaching it later may become difficult.

I also prefer keeping one side of the cup slightly more organized than the other. That gives new blobs somewhere predictable to go when the centre becomes crowded.

Avoiding Overflow

Do not concentrate only on creating the largest possible blob.

A successful merge can still leave the board in a worse position if the resulting piece blocks several smaller ones.

Before every drop, check both the intended merge and the remaining free space above it.
