Get On Top

Get On Top is a two-player physics fighting game where connected characters wrestle for balance using only movement keys. Push, pull, jump, and shift your weight to make your opponent’s head touch the floor first, with the first player to score 11 points winning the match.

Get On Top

Get On Top is a physics-based two-player fighting game where two connected characters wrestle for position and try to force the opponent’s head onto the floor. There are no traditional punches, combos, or special attacks. Movement itself creates the fight. The mistake that catches new players is constantly pushing forward. Shifting weight backward for a moment can create a much better angle for the next lift or flip.

The unusual movement is easier to understand when you think about balance rather than ordinary fighting controls. Basic concepts such as momentum and changes in motion help explain why a small shift at the right moment can completely reverse which character is on top.

About Get On Top

Two players share one keyboard and control characters that remain physically connected throughout the match.

Your objective is to keep your own head away from the ground while using jumps, pulls, pushes, and weight shifts to force the other player’s head down. The first player to score 11 points wins.

Latest Get On Top Update

The current browser version lists April 2021 as its latest update.

Get On Top has stayed intentionally simple, with its replay value coming from player-versus-player physics rather than upgrades, seasonal content, or long progression systems.

Get On Top Characters

Both players control simple human-like fighters connected at their hands.

There are no character classes or statistics to manage. The two sides operate under the same basic rules, leaving timing and control as the main differences between players.

Get On Top Gameplay

Each round becomes a short contest over balance and leverage.

Holding one direction for too long often works against you because your character keeps carrying momentum. I find the more reliable approach is to make short adjustments, see how both bodies react, and then commit when the opponent starts leaning badly.

Controls

Player 1

  • W, A, S, D: Move and shift weight

Player 2

  • Arrow Keys: Move and shift weight

There is no separate attack button. Every offensive and defensive action comes from manipulating movement.

Get On Top Physics And Balance

Get On Top turns basic physics into the entire combat system.

Changing direction affects both characters because they remain connected. Jumping at the wrong moment may place your own head closer to the floor, while pulling backward can sometimes turn a defensive position into an advantage.

For readers interested in the underlying idea, Newton’s laws of motion explained by NASA provide useful background on forces and movement without being specific to the game.

Get On Top Matches And Progression

There is no traditional campaign or equipment progression.

Instead, each match continues until one player reaches 11 points. Progress therefore comes from learning how the physics responds and becoming better at recognising unstable positions.

That repeated skill-based structure is similar to other physics-heavy games such as Stickman Climb, where mastering unusual movement matters more than unlocking stronger equipment.

Who Created Get On Top?

Get On Top was created by Bennett Foddy, the game designer also known for QWOP, GIRP, and Getting Over It with Bennett Foddy.

His games frequently use deliberately unusual control systems where learning movement becomes the main challenge. The NYU Game Center faculty profile for Bennett Foddy provides useful background on his work as a designer and academic.

App And Platforms

The current browser edition is primarily designed for desktop play because two players need to share a keyboard.

Browser games respond to physical keyboard input through systems such as the KeyboardEvent API documented by MDN, which helps explain how games can recognise separate WASD and arrow-key inputs.

Games Like Get On Top

The closest alternatives are local multiplayer or physics games where simple controls produce unpredictable matches.

Blumgi Paintball is a useful option for players who prefer another quick competitive game, while Stickman Climb offers a stronger match for the awkward-physics side of the experience.

About This Game

Get On Top works best as a short local multiplayer game rather than a deep fighting simulator.

Its appeal comes from how many situations emerge from only a few movement keys. Two players can understand the objective immediately, but controlling weight consistently takes much longer.

Its strongest identity is physics fighting because balance and momentum replace the traditional attack systems found in most fighting games.

Get The Game

Get On Top is primarily suited to desktop browser play with two people sharing one keyboard.

There is very little setup to learn. The real challenge begins after the controls make sense, when both players start deliberately manipulating balance instead of simply pressing directions as quickly as possible.
