Raft Wars 2

Raft Wars 2 is a turn-based cartoon action game created by Martijn Kunst with TinyDobbins. Simon and his brother return from holiday and find that a water park has been built over the spot where their treasure was hidden. The sequel keeps the humorous physics of the original while adding a new water-park setting, destructible scenery and a longer progression system. I find the level structure more interesting than a simple repeat of the first game because the environment changes as the brothers work their way through the park.

About Raft Wars 2

Raft Wars 2 continues the story of Simon and his brother after the events of the first Raft Wars.

Their buried treasure is still in the same place, but a large water park now stands above it. The brothers therefore work through different parts of the resort as they try to recover what they buried.

The humorous presentation keeps the game light, with cartoon characters, exaggerated reactions and colourful environments rather than realistic action.

Latest Raft Wars 2 Update

The current Poki edition lists March 2019 as its platform release date and November 2025 as its latest update.

As of September 2026, Poki shows a 4.4 rating from more than 508,000 votes and confirms support for desktop, phone and tablet.

Bubblebox also lists the modern version as an HTML5 remake playable on both desktop and mobile devices.

Raft Wars 2 Gameplay

Raft Wars 2 uses turn-based rounds.

Simon and his brother face different groups of cartoon opponents while moving through the water park. Each side takes turns performing an action, and successful rounds lead into the next part of the story.

Controls

The browser version uses simple mouse or touchscreen interaction.

  • Mouse: Main interaction
  • Touchscreen: Mobile equivalent
  • Click and drag: Used for the game’s turn-based action

Poki confirms click-and-drag mouse controls for the current HTML5 edition.

The W3C Pointer Events specification explains how modern browser applications can support both mouse and touchscreen input.

Water Park Setting

The biggest visual change from the original game is the location.

Instead of returning to the same basic raft setting, Raft Wars 2 takes place around a water park built over Simon’s hidden treasure. Pools, slides and other resort structures become part of the level backgrounds.

That gives the sequel a clearer sense of progression because new stages feel like different parts of the same larger location.

Turn-Based Rounds

Raft Wars 2 is not a real-time action game.

Each side takes turns, so the pace is slower and more deliberate than games where everything happens at once. The challenge comes from completing each cartoon encounter and continuing through the park.

I find this structure easier to follow because you have time to see how the previous turn changed the scene before the next one begins.

Environmental Obstacles

The water park contains objects and structures that affect how each level plays.

Poki specifically mentions waterslides, pools and other parts of the resort as part of the progression through the story.

These environmental elements help separate the sequel from the simpler presentation of the first Raft Wars.

Coins And Upgrades

Completing stages rewards coins that feed into the game’s upgrade system.

Those upgrades gradually improve Simon and his brother’s setup between levels, giving the campaign a stronger sense of progression than simply moving from one round to the next.

I would treat upgrades mainly as a way to keep progression moving rather than something that needs complicated management.

Raft Improvements

The raft itself can also be improved as the game continues.

Bubblebox confirms that raft upgrades are part of the modern Raft Wars 2 version.

That makes the vehicle feel connected to the campaign rather than remaining visually unchanged from beginning to end.

Raft Wars 2 Levels

Raft Wars 2 uses a level-based campaign.

Each completed encounter moves the story closer to recovering the treasure beneath the water park. The environments and opposing characters change along the way, which gives the sequel more variety than one repeating arena.

Raft Wars 2 Progression

Progress mainly comes from:

  • Completing turn-based stages
  • Earning coins
  • Improving the raft
  • Advancing through the water park
  • Reaching new encounters
  • Moving closer to the hidden treasure

The game does not use an open world or complicated character-development system. Progress stays tied to completing stages and upgrading between them.

Original Flash Version

Raft Wars 2 originally existed as a Flash game before receiving a modern browser conversion.

Bubblebox preserves a Raft Wars 2 Classic edition and identifies it as the original Flash version, while Poki explains that the modern release was converted to HTML5.

This conversion is why the game can now run on current desktop and mobile browsers without Flash.

Who Created Raft Wars 2?

Raft Wars 2 was created by Martijn Kunst, with TinyDobbins also credited on the current modern version.

Both Poki and Bubblebox identify Martijn Kunst and TinyDobbins as the developers behind the modern Raft Wars series.

Martijn Kunst also founded Bubblebox, which originally launched in 2006 and published the first Raft Wars in 2007.

Raft Wars Series

The main games in the series include:

  • Raft Wars
  • Raft Wars 2
  • Raft Wars Multiplayer

Poki and Bubblebox both connect these titles under the same creators.

The original Raft Wars focuses on defending Simon’s treasure, while Raft Wars 2 moves the story to the water park built above it.

Raft Wars Multiplayer

Raft Wars Multiplayer is a separate online version of the series.

Unlike Raft Wars 2, which uses a single-player campaign, the multiplayer edition places players against online opponents. Poki identifies it as its own game rather than a multiplayer mode inside Raft Wars 2.

Browser And Platforms

Raft Wars 2 supports:

  • Desktop
  • Phone
  • Tablet

Poki confirms all three device categories, and Bubblebox also lists the HTML5 remake as playable on desktop and mobile.

Games Like Raft Wars 2

Players who enjoy Raft Wars 2 may also prefer other physics-based or turn-based browser games where short stages and environmental interaction matter.

For another light physics challenge, Get On Top focuses on balance and movement rather than a campaign.

Disaster Arena offers a different style of short arcade competition with changing minigames.

About This Game

Raft Wars 2 works because it takes the simple structure of the original and gives it a more memorable setting.

The water park creates a clear story objective, while turn-based rounds, coins and raft upgrades provide a steady progression loop. The move from Flash to HTML5 also keeps the game accessible on modern desktop and mobile browsers.
