Description

Roller Coaster Builder is a creative simulation game from Rabbit Mountain where you design custom roller coasters using loops, drops, corkscrews and hand-drawn track sections. After finishing a layout, you can ride the virtual coaster yourself and share completed creations with other players. I find building the basic route first and adding scenery afterward much easier than trying to perfect every section immediately, because it lets you check whether the full track actually connects.

About Roller Coaster Builder

Roller Coaster Builder gives you a virtual construction area and tools for creating your own amusement-park rides.

You can build large loops, steep drops, corkscrews and completely custom track shapes rather than following only preset layouts. Once the coaster is complete, the game lets you test the ride from inside it.

Latest Roller Coaster Builder Update

The current Poki listing gives October 2019 as the platform release date and June 2022 as the latest update.

As of September 2026, the game holds a 4.4 rating from more than 1.46 million votes and is currently listed for desktop browsers.

Roller Coaster Builder  Gameplay

The main activity is construction rather than racing or managing a theme park.

You choose where the track should go, connect sections and gradually create a complete coaster through the available environment.

Controls

  • Mouse Click: Create and place track elements
  • Mouse: Navigate the construction interface

Poki currently summarizes the control scheme as Mouse click to create.

The W3C Pointer Events specification provides useful background on mouse-based interaction used by browser applications.

Building Custom Tracks

Custom track creation is the central feature.

You are not limited to simple straight lines or gentle slopes. Poki specifically highlights the ability to build:

  • Loops
  • Corkscrews
  • Large drops
  • Custom track sections

This gives each coaster room to look different rather than forcing every player through the same layout.

Loops And Corkscrews

Loops and corkscrews give your virtual ride more visual variety.

They can be mixed with ordinary track sections and height changes to create a coaster that feels more elaborate than a simple circuit.

I find adding these larger elements after establishing the main route easier because they require more space than ordinary track pieces.

Custom Environments

Roller Coaster Builder  includes several environments for your creations.

Poki specifically mentions settings such as:

  • Mountain landscapes
  • City skylines
  • Egyptian pyramids

Changing the setting gives the same construction tools a different visual feel.

Adding Scenery

The game lets you decorate your creation beyond the track itself.

Available additions include wildlife, dinosaurs and destructible environmental objects.

These elements do not replace the coaster-building mechanics, but they make finished levels feel more like complete themed environments.

Testing Your Roller Coaster

Building is only part of the game.

Once your track is ready, you can ride the virtual roller coaster yourself and see how the completed route looks from the ride perspective.

That test step is useful because a track that looks interesting from above may feel very different once viewed from inside the coaster.

Designing A Clear Route

A practical in-game approach is to build in stages:

  1. Choose the starting area.
  2. Create the main route.
  3. Connect the track completely.
  4. Add loops and larger features.
  5. Test the coaster.
  6. Add scenery and decorative objects.
  7. Ride it again before sharing.

The mistake I would avoid is placing lots of decoration before confirming that the main track works as intended.

Sharing Creations

Roller Coaster Builder  lets players put completed levels online and share them with others.

Poki specifically encourages players to create a coaster, finish the surrounding level and publish it for the wider community.

This gives the construction system more purpose than keeping every design private.

Community Levels

Shared creations can provide additional variety beyond building your own tracks.

Because different players can design different routes and environments, the experience is not limited to one developer-made coaster layout.

That user-created aspect makes experimentation one of the game’s strongest features.

Roller Coaster Builder Strategy

There is no traditional winning strategy because this is primarily a creative simulation.

A useful construction workflow is:

  • Start simple
  • Complete the full track
  • Leave enough room for larger elements
  • Test before decorating
  • Add scenery after the route works
  • Recheck connections before publishing

This keeps the creative process organized without limiting what kind of virtual coaster you can build.

Roller Coaster Builder Series

Roller Coaster Builder  is the second installment in the Roller Coaster Builder series.

Poki directly identifies it as the follow-up and credits Rabbit Mountain with its development.

The sequel expands the building concept with custom tracks, themed environments and community sharing.

Who Created Roller Coaster Builder ?

Roller Coaster Builder  was created by Rabbit Mountain.

Poki describes Rabbit Mountain as a Bulgaria-based developer and notes its work in virtual-reality experiences alongside browser games.

Rabbit Mountain’s current official site describes the company as a game and entertainment studio serving players worldwide.

The official Rabbit Mountain website provides current information about the studio.

Browser And Platforms

The current Poki edition supports:

  • Desktop

Poki specifically lists desktop as the supported device for Roller Coaster Builder .

The mouse-focused building controls also suit the detailed track-creation interface.

Similar Roller Coaster Builder  Names

There is another unrelated HTML5 project also called Roller Coaster Builder  published by West Coast Games on itch.io.

That version is a separate sandbox project and should not be confused with the Rabbit Mountain game covered here.

For the Prothots page, the correct developer for this version is Rabbit Mountain.

Games Like Roller Coaster Builder

Players who enjoy Roller Coaster Builder  may prefer games centered on:

  • Building
  • Simulation
  • Creative design
  • Construction
  • Sandbox-style play
  • Custom levels

For another browser game where positioning and movement create most of the challenge, Get On Top uses short physics-based matches rather than construction.

About This Game

Roller Coaster Builder  works because it gives the player creative control instead of presenting one fixed ride.

You can draw custom track sections, add loops and corkscrews, choose different landscapes, decorate the surroundings and then experience the finished coaster from the ride itself.

Community sharing extends that idea further by allowing finished creations to become playable levels for other people.
