Description

PolyTrack

PolyTrack is a low-poly racing game where every fraction of a second matters. Instead of mainly racing side by side with computer-controlled cars, you repeat tracks, compare times and improve your racing line until you can beat your previous records. The game also includes community tracks, leaderboards, ghost runs and a detailed track editor. I find braking slightly earlier and exiting a corner cleanly much faster than entering every turn at maximum speed.

About PolyTrack

PolyTrack is built around short time-trial races.

You complete a track, notice where time was lost and immediately try again. Leaderboard times and ghost runs let you compare your route with faster players, making small improvements easier to identify.

Latest PolyTrack Update

The latest official version I could verify is PolyTrack 0.6.2, released on May 31, 2026.

This was primarily a bug-fix update following version 0.6.1. The major 0.6.0 update, released March 10, 2026, introduced experimental multiplayer, expanded car customization, editor copy-and-paste features and performance improvements.

PolyTrack Cars

PolyTrack keeps its cars visually simple so attention stays on driving.

Version 0.6.0 expanded the customization system, giving players more ways to personalize their vehicle without changing the central time-trial structure.

PolyTrack Gameplay

Every track is about completing the route as quickly and cleanly as possible.

Corners, jumps, wall sections and narrow platforms punish small mistakes. I usually concentrate on making one improvement per attempt rather than changing everything at once.

Controls

  • WASD / Arrow Keys: Drive
  • T: Restart the full run
  • R: Restart from a checkpoint
  • C: First-person camera
  • Spacebar: Pause

Mobile versions use on-screen controls.

The MDN KeyboardEvent documentation provides useful technical background on keyboard input in browser applications.

PolyTrack Time Trials

Time trials are the heart of PolyTrack.

You are usually competing against recorded times rather than trying to push another car off the track. Even an improvement of a few tenths of a second can move your run higher on the leaderboard.

A useful habit is checking where your run actually lost time before restarting.

PolyTrack Leaderboards

Online leaderboards let you compare your best times with other players.

The May 2026 version 0.6.1 update also added the date when a leaderboard record was achieved, making the competitive history easier to follow.

PolyTrack Ghost Runs

Ghost runs provide a visual reference for faster performances.

Watching where another player brakes, turns or lands can reveal why their time is better than yours. It is especially useful when your own run feels clean but is still several seconds behind the leading times.

PolyTrack Tracks

The current Poki version lists 17 official tracks plus more than 30 featured community creations.

Tracks are spread across themes including:

  • Summer
  • Winter
  • Desert

Different layouts emphasize different skills, including smooth cornering, precise braking and stable landings.

PolyTrack Track Editor

PolyTrack includes a built-in level editor.

You can place track pieces, rotate them, add checkpoints and create a finish line before testing the course yourself. Finished tracks can be exported and shared with other players.

Editor Controls

  • Left Mouse Button: Build
  • Middle Mouse Button: Rotate view
  • Right Mouse Button: Pan
  • Shift + Mouse Wheel: Move vertically
  • R: Rotate selected piece

These controls are documented on the official PolyTrack page.

PolyTrack Community Tracks

Players can import tracks created by other members of the community.

This greatly expands the game beyond the official courses because creators can build everything from short technical tracks to larger high-speed layouts.

For another game where repeated attempts help you master short challenges, Get On Top uses physics and balance instead of racing.

PolyTrack Multiplayer

PolyTrack now includes server-based networked multiplayer.

Multiplayer was introduced as an experimental feature in version 0.6.0 and remains listed on Kodub’s official itch.io page.

This expands PolyTrack beyond asynchronous leaderboard competition while keeping time improvement at the centre of the experience.

PolyTrack Racing Tips

Brake before the corner rather than after the car has already started sliding wide.

Try to land jumps pointing straight down the next section, and avoid unnecessary steering corrections after landing.

I also find quick restarts useful. Once a run has clearly lost too much time, repeating the difficult section immediately helps build consistency.

Who Created PolyTrack?

PolyTrack was created by Kodub.

The official Kodub itch.io page identifies PolyTrack as a low-poly racing game inspired heavily by TrackMania and confirms that the project remains in development.

Kodub’s creator profile also lists projects such as Game of Life 3D, Snakes without Brakes, Big Bubbles and DustSim.

App And Platforms

PolyTrack supports:

  • Desktop
  • Phone
  • Tablet
  • Windows
  • macOS
  • Linux
  • Android

Kodub’s official release currently provides downloadable builds for Windows, macOS, Linux and Android alongside the HTML5 browser version.

Games Like PolyTrack

PolyTrack is strongly inspired by TrackMania, especially its focus on time trials, repeat attempts and community-created tracks.

Within Prothots, players who prefer more physics-focused driving can try games such as Drive Mad, while Blumgi Paintball offers competitive rounds without racing.

About This Game

PolyTrack works best for players who enjoy improving through repetition.

Its strongest feature is how clearly mistakes translate into time. A late brake, wide corner or awkward landing can cost only a fraction of a second, but those small losses add up quickly.

The combination of official tracks, community creations, multiplayer and the editor gives the simple racing system plenty of long-term variety.
