Roper
Roper is a one-button platform game from Martin Magni and Fancade where your character runs automatically through 100 levels. Jump across gaps, hold to swing from rope anchors, collect every coin and use careful timing to reach each exit across desktop, phone and tablet.
Roper
Roper is a compact platform game where one action controls jumping and rope swinging while your character runs automatically. Each stage asks you to collect every coin and reach the exit without falling from platforms or missing an important anchor point. The control system looks extremely simple, but timing becomes increasingly important across the game’s 100 levels. I find watching the next anchor before jumping more useful than reacting only after the character reaches the edge.

About Roper
Roper is built around an automatically running character.
The character keeps moving until reaching a solid wall or another object. Instead of manually controlling every step, you decide when to jump and when to attach a rope to one of the available anchor points.
Every level also contains coins that must be collected before the stage can be completed.
Latest Roper Update
The current Poki edition lists May 2023 as its release date and September 2024 as its latest update.
As of September 2026, the current listing shows a 4.2 rating from roughly 94,000 votes and confirms support for desktop, phone and tablet.
Roper Gameplay
Your character automatically runs across each platform.
Tap or press an action key to jump. When a suitable brown anchor point is available, holding the action lets the character attach a rope and swing.
Controls
- Tap: Jump
- Tap and Hold: Swing from an anchor
- WASD: Action input
- Spacebar: Action input
- Arrow Keys: Alternative action input
Poki currently lists all of these options for the browser edition.
The MDN KeyboardEvent documentation provides useful technical background on keyboard input in browser games.
Automatic Running
Roper does not give you normal left and right walking controls.
The character runs automatically and changes behaviour when reaching walls or solid objects. This means your main job is controlling the timing of jumps and swings rather than steering every movement manually.
That limitation is what gives the game much of its puzzle-like quality.
Rope Swinging
Brown circular anchor points allow the character to use a rope.
Tap and hold at the correct moment to attach and swing. Releasing at the right point lets you continue toward another platform or coin.
I find the release timing more important than attaching as quickly as possible. A slightly longer swing can completely change where the character lands.
Roper Coins
Every level contains coins.
Poki specifically states that all coins must be collected before the level can be successfully completed.
That means reaching the exit alone is not enough. Sometimes the safest-looking route needs to be adjusted so you can collect a coin placed above or below the obvious path.
Roper Anchor Points
Anchor points change how you cross larger gaps.
Instead of jumping directly from platform to platform, you may need to swing under an obstacle or use momentum to reach a higher section.
A useful habit is checking where the rope will place you after release, not just whether the anchor itself is reachable.
Roper Obstacles
Levels include:
- Cliffs
- Narrow platforms
- Gaps
- Walls
- Rope sections
- Awkward coin positions
Poki describes Roper as containing many levels filled with obstacles and cliffs.
The challenge increases without making the control scheme more complicated.
Roper 100 Levels
Roper contains 100 unique levels.
This is confirmed directly by the current Poki listing.
Each stage is relatively compact, which makes failed attempts easy to repeat without replaying a long section.
Roper Level Strategy
Look at the entire visible route before making the first jump.
Check where the coins are positioned and identify any brown anchor points that may be needed later.
I also find it useful to think about landing direction. Since the character keeps running automatically, arriving on the correct side of a platform can be just as important as reaching it.
Jump Timing
Jumping too early can leave the character short of a platform, while jumping too late can send you past a useful position.
Because one input handles so much of the movement system, learning the timing of that input becomes the main skill.
For another browser game built around unusual movement rules, Get On Top uses balance and physics instead of auto-running.
Roper Progression
Progress mainly comes from:
- Completing levels
- Collecting every coin
- Learning jump timing
- Mastering rope swings
- Reading anchor positions
- Clearing increasingly difficult platform layouts
- Reaching level 100
There is no complicated equipment or character-upgrade system, so nearly all improvement comes from movement accuracy.
Who Created Roper?
Roper was created by Martin Magni and is associated with Fancade.
Poki’s current metadata lists Martin Magni as the developer, while its description identifies Fancade as the creator behind Roper and several related arcade games.
Martin Magni is also the creator behind several well-known Fancade projects.
Browser And Platforms
Roper supports:
- Desktop
- Phone
- Tablet
The current Poki listing confirms all three device categories.
The simple tap-and-hold control scheme works naturally with both keyboard and touchscreen input.
Games Like Roper
Fancade is also associated with several compact browser games, including:
- Drive Mad
- Stacktris
- Recoil
- Monster Tracks
- Speed King
These titles are directly listed alongside Roper by Poki.
For another physics-focused browser challenge, Get On Top uses short competitive rounds instead of rope swinging.
About This Game
Roper works because it creates a surprising amount of challenge from one main input.
The character runs automatically, jumping and swinging share the same basic action, and every stage requires all coins before the exit counts. That makes route planning, timing and momentum more important than learning a large control scheme.
With 100 levels, the game has enough room to gradually make that simple idea more demanding.

- Drive Mad
- Stacktris
- Recoil
- Monster Tracks

Get The Game
Roper runs directly through supported desktop and mobile browsers.
Watch the next platform before jumping, collect every coin and hold the action key when a brown anchor is needed for a swing. Since the character keeps running automatically, planning the landing is often more important than simply reaching the next platform.
