Gamepad Test

A gamepad test is the fast check you run when something feels off in a game, when you buy a used controller, or after replacing a joystick module. In a minute it shows whether every button registers, whether the sticks return to center, and how much stick drift and dead zone the controller has.

How To Check For Stick Drift

Connect the controller and put it down without touching the sticks. The axis values should sit at zero or very close to it. Readings of 3 to 4 percent are normal on a new pad, and up to about 10 percent is common after heavy use. Values that keep moving or sit high mean drift, which most games hide with a dead zone of around 15 percent.
