How To Check For Burn-in
Set brightness to high, open a mid grey screen and then pure red, green and blue. Look for outlines of icons, letters or bars. If you see them only for a few minutes after closing an app, it is temporary image retention. If the shadow is still there after the phone rests, it is permanent burn-in.
Can Burn-in Be Reduced
Mild burn-in and image retention can often be softened by cycling inverted and changing colors so the less used pixels age a little and even out. Heavy burn-in is permanent.
