About Screen Uniformity Test

Spot uneven brightness, dirty screen effect, vignetting and color tint across your whole panel.

Screen uniformity is how even the brightness and color look from corner to corner. Poor uniformity shows up as darker edges, a pink or green tint in one area, cloudy blotches, or vertical bands that move when you scroll, often called the dirty screen effect. A uniformity test fills the panel with flat grey and white fields at several levels so these flaws are easy to see.

How To Test Screen Uniformity

Run the test in a dim room at your usual brightness. Step through 5, 20, 50 and 100 percent grey and look for patches that are brighter, darker or a different shade. Sweep your eyes slowly across the screen rather than staring at one spot. Uniformity problems at low grey levels are common on VA and OLED panels, while edge darkening is common on IPS.

Why Uniformity Matters

Uneven panels are distracting in sports with green fields, in dark movie scenes and in photo editing, where a tint can push your edits in the wrong direction. Testing during the return window gives you proof if you want an exchange.

Which App The Install Button Opens
