Raft Wars

Raft Wars is a turn-based aiming game where Simon and his brother defend their treasure against pirates, vikings, gangs and other opponents from a small raft. Each turn asks you to judge angle and power before launching a tennis ball toward the opposing side. The mistake I made at first was changing both aim and power after every miss. Adjusting only one variable makes it much easier to understand why the previous shot fell short or went too far.

About Raft Wars

The story begins when Simon finds valuable treasure and suddenly has to protect it from groups trying to take it.

Battles take place across water, with each side taking turns. Winning requires either knocking opponents from their position or reducing their health enough to finish the round.

Latest Raft Wars Update

The current browser edition lists November 2025 as its latest update.

Raft Wars was originally created using Adobe Flash and was later converted to HTML5 so it could continue running in modern browsers after Flash support ended.

Adobe’s official Flash end-of-life information explains why older browser games had to move away from the Flash platform.

Raft Wars Characters

Simon and his brother form the player’s team throughout the game.

Opponents change between stages and include pirates, vikings and other groups. The characters are simple, but the changing enemy positions keep each level from feeling identical.

Raft Wars Gameplay

Every turn involves choosing a direction and deciding how much power to put behind the shot.

The most useful habit is remembering the previous attempt. If a shot lands just short, a small power adjustment is usually more reliable than completely changing the angle and starting again.

Controls

  • Mouse: Click and drag to aim
  • Release: Launch the shot
  • Touchscreen: Use the same drag-and-release idea

The control style works well across devices because modern browsers support mouse and touch input through systems such as the W3C Pointer Events standard.

Raft Wars Aiming And Angles

Distance and angle determine where each shot lands.

Some opponents are easy to reach directly, while others require a higher arc or a more carefully judged amount of power. The game keeps the mechanic simple enough that improvement comes mostly from observation.

For useful background on projectile motion, the Physics Classroom projectile motion guide explains how horizontal and vertical movement combine to create curved trajectories.

Raft Wars Coins And Upgrades

Successful battles reward coins that can be spent on useful improvements.

Progression includes raft upgrades and additional in-game options that make later encounters more manageable. Saving coins for an upgrade that solves a real problem usually feels more useful than spending immediately after every level.

Raft Wars Levels And Progression

The campaign gradually introduces different opponents and more awkward battle layouts.

Because turns are short, failed shots become useful feedback. You quickly learn whether the problem was too much power, the wrong angle or poor target choice.

Players who enjoy short competitive rounds may also like Blumgi Paintball, where simple controls similarly lead to quick tactical decisions.

Who Created Raft Wars?

Raft Wars was created by Martijn Kunst and TinyDobbins, developers based in the Netherlands.

The same creators later produced Raft Wars 2 and Raft Wars Multiplayer, expanding the original idea with new environments and online competition.

App And Platforms

The current HTML5 version supports desktop computers, phones and tablets.

HTML5 became particularly important for preserving older web games after Flash disappeared from modern browsers. The MDN Canvas API documentation provides useful background on one of the browser technologies commonly used for interactive 2D graphics.

Games Like Raft Wars

The closest alternatives are turn-based skill games where each action gives you time to think rather than demanding constant movement.

For a very different competitive format, Get On Top uses simple controls and physics to create short two-player matches, while Disaster Arena focuses on rapidly changing multiplayer challenges.

About This Game

Raft Wars works best for players who like simple games where accuracy improves noticeably with practice.

Its strongest feature is the feedback loop between shots. Every miss teaches you something about the angle or power needed for the next attempt, which keeps the mechanics understandable without making them completely automatic.

  • Raft Wars Multiplayer

Get The Game

Raft Wars runs directly through supported modern browsers after being converted from its original Flash version to HTML5.

There is little setup to learn. Most improvement comes from remembering previous attempts, adjusting aim carefully and making better use of upgrades as later stages become more demanding.
