Impossible 13

Impossible 13 is a number-merging puzzle game where the goal is hidden directly in its name: keep combining numbered circles until you create 13. You merge groups of at least three identical circles to produce the next number, but every move also changes the available board space. I find planning around the largest existing number much more useful than making every possible merge immediately, because badly placed circles can block stronger combinations later.

About Impossible 13

Impossible 13 begins with a board filled with coloured numbered circles.

Your task is to connect three or more circles with the same number. A successful group disappears and creates a circle containing the next value. Repeating that process gradually moves you toward the final target of 13.

Latest Impossible 13 Update

The current Poki listing gives May 2020 as the release date and February 2021 as the latest update.

As of September 2026, the listing shows a 4.2 rating from roughly 87,000 votes and confirms support for desktop, phone and tablet.

Impossible 13 Gameplay

Each turn starts by identifying a group of matching circles.

Drag across at least three circles carrying the same number. When the connection is valid, they merge into one circle containing a higher value.

Controls

  • Mouse: Click and drag across matching circles
  • Touchscreen: Touch and drag across matching circles
  • Release: Complete the merge

The current browser listing describes dragging as the main interaction.

The W3C Pointer Events specification gives useful technical background on mouse and touchscreen interaction in browser interfaces.

Impossible 13 Merge System

The core rule is straightforward:

3 or more identical circles → 1 higher-numbered circle

That means combining three circles marked 2 produces a higher-value result, and that new circle can later become part of another matching group.

The challenge comes from repeatedly creating the right numbers without leaving the board in an awkward state.

Reaching Number 13

The final objective is to create a circle marked 13.

That sounds simple, but higher values require several earlier merges. Every poor placement therefore matters more as you get closer to the goal.

I find it useful to think two or three merges ahead instead of focusing only on the current group.

Impossible 13 Board Management

Available space is one of the game’s most important resources.

A technically valid merge is not always the best move if the resulting circle appears in a location that makes future matches difficult.

Keeping higher-numbered circles reasonably close together can make later combinations easier to build.

Impossible 13 Colours And Numbers

Matching circles share both a number and visual colour.

This makes possible groups easier to identify quickly, but the number itself remains the important progression marker.

The current game description specifically requires circles with matching colour and number to be combined.

Impossible 13 Strategy

Start by checking where your highest-value circles are located.

If possible, build nearby lower numbers toward those stronger circles instead of creating isolated high values around opposite sides of the board.

I would also avoid automatically taking the first available three-circle merge. A slightly larger chain or better-positioned merge can leave you with a much cleaner board.

For another relaxed puzzle where future board availability matters, Mahjong Firefly uses free tile matching instead of numbered circles.

Impossible 13 Progression

Impossible 13 does not use traditional levels, equipment or character upgrades.

Progress comes directly from the numbers you create:

  • Find matching circles
  • Merge groups
  • Produce higher values
  • Manage remaining space
  • Work toward number 13

This keeps almost every decision tied to the central puzzle mechanic.

Who Created Impossible 13?

Impossible 13 was created by Robowhale.

Poki identifies Robowhale as the developer and also associates the studio with other casual puzzle titles.

Browser And Platforms

Impossible 13 currently supports:

  • Desktop
  • Phone
  • Tablet

The current Poki listing confirms all three device categories.

Its drag-based controls translate naturally between mouse and touchscreen input.

Games Like Impossible 13

Impossible 13 suits players who enjoy number-merging and matching puzzles where planning matters more than reaction speed.

For another board-based puzzle, Mahjong Firefly focuses on identifying available tile pairs.

Players who want something more competitive can try Get On Top, which replaces number puzzles with short physics-based matches.

About This Game

Impossible 13 works because it gives players an obvious goal while making the route toward it increasingly difficult.

The rules take only a few moments to understand, but higher numbers require careful board management and repeated planning. Every successful merge feels useful, yet careless combinations can make the final stages much harder.

Get The Game

Impossible 13 runs directly through supported desktop and mobile browsers.

Start by identifying groups of three or more matching circles, but do not merge automatically. Watch where your higher values are forming and try to leave enough useful space for the combinations needed to reach 13.
