Moon Waltz
Moon Waltz is a one-button adventure where you move clouds away from a full moon and change what happens during a nighttime walk through Friendlyville. Reveal the moon at different moments, uncover hidden scenes and replay the journey to see how simple timing choices lead to different outcomes.
Moon Waltz
Moon Waltz is a one-button adventure game where you control two clouds covering a full moon. Moving the clouds changes what happens to a character walking through Friendlyville, creating different scenes and possible outcomes along the route. The interesting part is learning when to reveal the moon rather than holding the button continuously. Sometimes leaving the clouds in place produces a completely different result.

About Moon Waltz
Moon Waltz follows an ordinary character taking a nighttime walk through Friendlyville.
You control the clouds sitting in front of the full moon. When you move them away, moonlight changes what happens in the scene. Those moments can alter encounters, reveal secrets and lead the walk toward different outcomes.
Latest Moon Waltz Update
The current Poki browser edition lists April 2021 as its latest update after a March 2021 release.
The official Android edition has a newer maintenance history. Google Play lists its latest update as November 11, 2024, with more than 10,000 downloads.
Moon Waltz Gameplay
The game uses one central interaction.
Hold the control to push the clouds away from the moon. Release it when you want the clouds to cover the moon again.
That tiny control system creates most of the game’s decisions because revealing the moon at different moments can change how the current scene unfolds.
Controls
- Hold Left Mouse Button: Push the clouds
- Hold Spacebar: Alternative desktop control
- Tap and Hold: Touchscreen control
- Release: Allow the clouds to cover the moon again
These controls work across desktop, phone and tablet.
The W3C Pointer Events specification provides useful technical background on browser interaction across mouse and touchscreen devices.
Moon Waltz Full Moon Mechanic
The full moon is the central game mechanic.
You do not directly control the walking character. Instead, you decide when the moon becomes visible and then watch how that decision changes the situation.
I find short reveals more interesting than simply holding the moon open because they make it easier to see which particular moment triggered a new event.
Moon Waltz Different Outcomes
Moon Waltz encourages replaying the same walk several times.
Different decisions can produce different scenes and endings, so completing one run does not show everything the game contains. Poki specifically recommends replaying and making different choices to see more possible scenarios.
Moon Waltz Friendlyville
The story takes place in Friendlyville.
The environment acts almost like a sequence of small interactive scenes. As the character continues walking, new people and situations appear, giving you more opportunities to decide whether the moon should remain covered or become visible.
Moon Waltz Secrets
Some outcomes are not obvious during the first playthrough.
Google Play describes the game as allowing players to reveal hidden secrets along the route, which gives repeated runs a purpose beyond simply reaching the end again.
For another browser game where repeating a simple sequence can lead to different outcomes, Murder uses timing and role reversal rather than moonlight.
Moon Waltz One-Button Design
Moon Waltz was deliberately created as an experimental one-button game.
The official mobile description emphasizes how one very simple mechanic can create both calm and chaotic situations depending on when it is used.
That is the game’s strongest design idea. You never need a complicated control layout, yet timing still changes what happens.
Original Flash Version And HTML5 Port
Moon Waltz originally appeared in 2013.
Marius Winter and Benedikt Hummel created the original game under the name Major Bueno. Studio Seufz later converted it from Flash ActionScript 2 to HTML5 after browser support for Flash ended.
Sarah Werum worked on the HTML5 port with Benedikt Hummel, allowing the game to remain playable through modern browsers.
The official Studio Seufz Moon Waltz page provides the original development and porting credits.
Who Created Moon Waltz?
Moon Waltz was originally created by Marius Winter and Benedikt Hummel as Major Bueno.
The current HTML5 version is associated with Studio Seufz, which ported the original project to modern browsers. Poki therefore lists Studio Seufz as the developer of its current browser edition.

Games Like Moon Waltz
The closest Studio Seufz browser game is Murder, another title built around a very small control system and outcomes that change according to timing. Poki also lists Caesar’s Day Off alongside Moon Waltz.
For a different short browser game built around physics and timing, Get On Top replaces one-button storytelling with local competitive balance.
About This Game
Moon Waltz works best for players who enjoy short games where experimentation matters more than mechanical difficulty.
Its strongest feature is how much can happen from one input. Moving two clouds sounds almost trivial, but doing it at different moments changes characters, scenes and eventual outcomes.
