Some levels add a race against a train or a chase through San Francisco with police on your tail. The controls use only three keys, but nailing a clean landing at full speed takes real practice.

What You Actually Do In Each Level

Every level is a short track with a start, a finish and a lot of air in between. You hold the throttle, hit a ramp and then control the car’s spin while it is off the ground. If you land badly, the car flips or crashes and you lose time. If you land clean, you keep your speed for the next jump.

• Right Arrow: tilt the car the other way

There is no brake to worry about. Letting go of the throttle slows you down, and the tilt keys also shift the car’s weight on the ground, which helps on bumpy sections.

Areas, Cops And The Train Race

The game is split into themed areas. According to Hyperkani’s App Store listing, players move through Arizona levels before San Francisco city and port levels open up. Later areas include Golden Gate levels, a wasteland and arena levels where you race against opponents.

In the city levels, trolley cars and police cars share the road. The cops try to box you in, so you need to keep momentum and pick ramps that take you over them.

Racing The Train

Some levels put you side by side with a train. You only win if you reach the end first, so these are pure speed tests where a single bad landing costs the level.

Cars, Paint Jobs And Upgrades

Coins you collect on the tracks pay for new vehicles and paint jobs. The Poki version lists 15 vehicles, and each one can be upgraded in three areas:

• Engine: more speed and stronger acceleration off ramps
• Tires: better grip when you land and on slopes
• Suspension: softer landings, so the car bounces less after a big jump

The garage is not just stunt cars. The app listing also mentions offroad cars, a chopper bike and a van. Heavier vehicles feel more stable in the air but turn over more slowly, so try a few before you settle on one.

Tips For Three Stars On Hard Levels

• Tilt so the car lands parallel to the slope, not parallel to the ground. A downhill landing at the right angle keeps almost all of your speed.
• Do not tap tilt the moment you leave a ramp. Wait a split second to see how the car is rotating, then correct.
• Upgrade suspension early. Most lost time in later levels comes from bouncing after landings.
• Replay early levels for coins if you get stuck. A better engine often turns a two star run into three stars.
• On police levels, stay on the throttle. Slowing down lets the cops catch up and block the next ramp.
• Learn each track once at an easy pace, then go for time. Knowing where the big jumps are matters more than reflexes.

Stunt Car Challenge 3 comes from Hyperkani, a Finnish studio known for physics driving games. It started as a mobile game, with the App Store listing carrying a 2015 copyright from Hyperkani Oy. Updates kept coming for years. In 2019 Hyperkani improved the graphics and added new stunt cars, including a convertible, and in June 2020 it added Daily Challenges and Missions.
