Crossy Road does not let you wait forever.

If you remain behind for too long, the screen continues pushing forward and an eagle can end the run.

Moving Backward Can Help

Forward movement increases your score, but moving backward can sometimes save a run.

If traffic suddenly closes the route ahead, stepping back gives you another chance to read the pattern.

The mistake is treating backward movement as failure.

One small retreat can be much better than forcing a dangerous crossing.

Collect Coins

Coins appear throughout runs.

The browser version lets you spend 100 coins in the prize machine to receive a random character unlock.

Coins therefore give you another objective besides score.

You can move slightly away from the easiest route to collect one, but only when the crossing is reasonably safe.

Losing a long run for one coin usually is not worth it.

Unlock 15 Browser Characters
