APKMirror is a website that archives APK files for Android apps and describes its downloads as free and safe. It is operated by Illogical Robot LLC and managed by the same people who run Android Police. It lists each file by app name, version, upload date, size and download count.

How APKMirror Proves A File Matches The Original

According to its FAQ, every upload is verified before it is published. For a new version of an app already on the site, the cryptographic signature has to match the earlier ones. For a brand new app, the signature is compared with other apps from the same developer, and if there is no match it is checked against a Play Store version or another verified source. If the team cannot confirm a file is legitimate, it does not publish it.
