Agar io Private Server Browser
Agar.io is a free online game where you control a cell, eat pellets and smaller players, and avoid bigger ones. You split, eject mass and use viruses to climb the leaderboard.
Agar.io is the game that started the whole IO craze, and Agar io Private Server Browser is a common search from players who want to play it with friends in a browser. You control a small cell in a big petri dish, eat pellets and smaller players to grow, and avoid anyone bigger than you. It sounds easy until you realise that size makes you slow, and a smaller player who splits at the right moment can swallow you whole. This page explains how the game works and the safe, official way to play together.

How Eating And Growing Works
You start as a tiny cell. Small coloured pellets are spread across the map, and eating them adds mass. To eat another player, your cell must be noticeably bigger than theirs. The bigger you get, the slower you move, and your cells slowly lose mass over time, so you cannot just sit still once you are large.
The leaderboard shows the biggest players on the server. Staying on it takes constant movement, careful splits and a good eye for danger.
Agar.io Controls
- Mouse: move your cell toward the pointer
- Space: split your cell in two, launching one half toward the pointer
- W: eject a small piece of mass
On mobile, you drag to move and use on-screen buttons to split and eject. Reviewers have called the mobile controls a bit floaty, so many players prefer a mouse.
Splitting, Viruses And Mass Tricks
Splitting is both your best attack and your biggest risk. When you split, half your mass shoots forward and can eat a smaller cell in its path. You can split up to 16 pieces, but each piece is smaller and easier for others to eat. Your pieces join back together after a while.
Green spiky circles are viruses. If a big cell eats one, it bursts into many small pieces. Small cells can hide under viruses because big cells avoid them. You can also feed a virus with W until it splits and shoots a new virus toward an enemy, which can break a large player apart.
Teaming With Mass
Ejecting mass toward another player is often read as a sign you want to team up. Two players feeding each other can grow fast, but a partner can always turn on you, so stay careful.
Tips For Staying Alive Longer
- Stay small and fast early, eat pellets near the edge of the map
- Never split when a bigger player is close, your smaller halves become easy food
- Use viruses as shields when you are small
- Split only when the target cannot escape, like against a wall or corner
Is There A Real Private Server?
Many sites advertise Agar.io private servers with huge starting mass or no limits. These are not official and are not run by Miniclip. Some ask you to install files, add extensions or log in with your account, which can expose you to malware or account theft. Unofficial servers can also disappear without warning.
The official game already has a way to play with friends. In the browser, the Party mode gives you a party code you can share, so your friends join the same room. That is the safe answer to the “private server” search, and it costs nothing.
All The Ways To Play
The browser version has several modes:
- FFA: classic free for all
- Teams: cells split into coloured teams
- Battle Royale: a shrinking map where the last cell wins
- Experimental: feeding a virus pushes it instead of growing it
- Party: share a code and play with friends
Experimental and Battle Royale also add red viruses, which eat small cells under 200 mass.
On mobile, you also get Classic, Battle Royale, Rush Mode and a Relax mode where all other players are bots.
Who Created Agar.io
Agar.io was created by Brazilian developer Matheus Valadares, who was 19 at the time. It launched in browsers on April 28, 2015 and went viral, so Miniclip published it on Android and iOS in July 2015. Its success started a wave of IO games, including Diep.io by the same developer. You can read more on the Agar.io Wikipedia page.
Playing Agar.io In A Browser
The browser version runs in Chrome and other modern browsers, so Chromebooks can play it without installing anything. Follow your school or work network rules if you play there. On Android, the official Agar.io app from Miniclip gives the same game with touch controls and its extra mobile modes.
Agar.io depends on quick reactions, so a laggy connection can cost you a big cell. Close extra tabs, use a steady Wi-Fi signal, and pick a server region close to you if the game offers one.
Games Like Agar.io
Slither io Custom Skins Free uses the same grow-by-eating idea with snakes. Diep io Unblocked Premium Edition is the developer’s next game, with tanks and upgrades. Hole io Unblocked Premium lets you grow a hole by swallowing a city.
