Cats Drop

Cats Drop is a physics-based merge puzzle where you drop 11 different cat sizes into a container and combine matching pairs into bigger cats. Plan each position carefully, trigger chain merges, build your score and keep the growing pile under control as you work toward creating the largest cat.

Cats Drop

Cats Drop is a physics-based merge puzzle where you drop different cats into a container and combine matching pairs into progressively larger cats. There are 11 cat sizes in the merge chain, so reaching the largest one requires more planning than simply dropping each new cat wherever space is available. I found keeping smaller cats grouped together much more useful than spreading them across the entire container.

About Cats Drop

Cats Drop starts with a simple objective: create the biggest cat possible before the container becomes too full.

Two identical cats merge automatically when they touch, producing the next larger cat in the sequence. Each successful merge also creates more room and increases your score.

Latest Cats Drop Update

The current browser listing shows January 2024 as the latest update after its November 2023 release.

Cats Drop was previously known as SSRB Ball, but the current version uses the cat-themed name and visuals.

Cats Drop Cats

There are 11 different cat types and sizes in the merge sequence.

Smaller cats appear more frequently, while repeatedly combining matching pairs eventually creates much larger cats. The largest cat therefore represents several successful merges rather than one lucky drop.

Cats Drop Gameplay

A new cat appears above the container and can be positioned horizontally before being released.

Once dropped, gravity and collisions determine where it settles. That means your placement is only the first part of the move because cats can roll, bounce or shift nearby pieces after landing.

Controls

  • Move Mouse: Choose the horizontal drop position
  • Left Click: Drop the cat
  • Touchscreen: Position and tap using the equivalent touch controls

Cats Drop supports desktop, phone and tablet play.

The W3C Pointer Events specification explains the common web standard used to handle mouse, touch and similar pointer input across modern devices.

Cats Drop Merge System

Two cats must be identical before they can combine.

When matching cats touch, they become one larger cat. That new cat can then merge again if another matching version is available.

This creates chain reactions when the board is arranged well. A single drop can sometimes trigger several merges and suddenly open much more space.

Cats Drop Physics

Physics make positioning less predictable than a normal tile-matching puzzle.

Cats can roll toward lower spaces and push nearby pieces as they settle. I would therefore leave some room around potential matches instead of packing every open gap immediately.

This is especially useful once larger cats begin occupying significant parts of the container.

Cats Drop Container Limit

The run becomes difficult when cats pile too high.

Your main challenge is preventing the container from filling while continuing to create larger matches. Poorly placed small cats can create isolated gaps that are difficult to use later.

A useful approach is keeping similar sizes reasonably close so future matching cats have somewhere productive to land.

Cats Drop Score

Every successful merge increases your score.

Longer runs generally create more opportunities for higher-level cats and larger totals, so efficient space management matters just as much as individual matches.

For another puzzle where planning future moves matters, Mahjong Firefly uses available tile pairs rather than falling physics objects.

Cats Drop Strategy

Try not to react only to the current cat.

The next few moves become easier when you maintain organised groups of similar sizes. Placing a small cat underneath several large ones can make it difficult to reach later.

I also avoid building one tall column too early. Keeping the top of the container relatively even usually gives incoming cats more possible landing positions.

Who Created Cats Drop?

Cats Drop was created by yeqwep.

The current Poki listing identifies Cats Drop as the developer’s first game released on the platform.

App And Platforms

The verified browser edition supports desktop, phones and tablets.

There are other mobile apps using similar “Cats Drop” names, but they have different developers and should not automatically be treated as official yeqwep versions.

The most direct related title from the same developer is Watermelon Drop, which applies a similar merging concept to different objects.

Players who prefer a different type of colourful challenge can also try Blumgi Paintball, which focuses on competitive platform rounds instead of puzzle merging.

About This Game

Cats Drop works best for players who enjoy simple controls combined with increasingly difficult space management.

Its strongest mechanic is the interaction between merging and physics. Making a match does more than increase the score because it also changes the available space and can reposition nearby cats.

Get The Game

Cats Drop runs directly through supported desktop and mobile browsers.

There is almost no setup before starting. Move each incoming cat into position, drop it carefully and keep matching identical cats while protecting enough open space for future pieces.
