Sweety Mahjong
Sweety Mahjong is a colourful tile-matching puzzle where cupcakes, candy and other sweet designs replace traditional mahjong symbols. Match identical free tiles, uncover hidden pieces and clear each board while planning moves carefully enough to avoid leaving useful pairs trapped.
Sweety Mahjong
Sweety Mahjong is a colourful tile-matching puzzle that replaces traditional mahjong symbols with cupcakes, candy, doughnuts and other sweet designs. The goal is to remove every tile by finding identical pairs that are currently free. The controls are simple, but the board can become difficult if useful tiles stay buried. I find it better to remove pairs that expose several new tiles rather than automatically choosing the first match I notice.

About Sweety Mahjong
Sweety Mahjong follows the familiar mahjong-solitaire idea of removing matching free tiles until the board is empty.
Instead of traditional tile artwork, the pieces use colourful sweets and snack illustrations. The change is mainly visual, while the underlying challenge still comes from identifying available pairs without blocking future moves.
Latest Sweety Mahjong Update
The current Poki edition lists November 2020 as its latest browser update after its May 15, 2020 release there.
The game itself is older than its Poki release. Official Code This Lab documentation dates the HTML5 project to March 26, 2014, showing that Sweety Mahjong had already existed for several years before reaching that browser platform.
Sweety Mahjong Tiles
Tiles feature pictures of sweets such as cupcakes, candy, ice cream and similar colourful treats.
Two tiles can only be removed when their pictures match and both are available according to the layout rules.
Because some pieces begin underneath or between other tiles, clearing the most obvious pair is not always the strongest move.
Sweety Mahjong Gameplay
The objective is to remove all matching pairs from the board.
A useful approach is to scan the upper and outside layers first. Those tiles often control access to several pieces underneath them, so removing the right pair can create several new possibilities at once.
Controls
- Mouse Click: Select a tile
- Second Click: Select its matching free tile
- Touchscreen: Tap matching tiles
Sweety Mahjong supports desktop computers, phones and tablets.
The W3C Pointer Events specification explains how modern web games can support mouse, touch and similar input methods through a common browser interface.
Sweety Mahjong Free Tiles
Not every visible tile can be selected.
A tile generally needs to be free rather than trapped by surrounding pieces before it can form a valid pair. This is where most of the planning comes from.
I usually check whether a match opens something underneath before removing it. A move that exposes two or three new tiles is often more useful than one that only clears space.
Sweety Mahjong Layouts
Different versions of Sweety Mahjong include multiple board arrangements.
The official mobile edition lists more than 30 layouts, ranging from classical arrangements to themed shapes. It also provides three difficulty settings, giving players a way to adjust how demanding the board feels.
The browser edition is more straightforward, but changing tile arrangements still prevents every puzzle from feeling identical.
Sweety Mahjong Difficulty
Sweety Mahjong becomes harder when fewer obvious pairs remain.
The difficulty is not based on fast reactions. Instead, it comes from deciding which available matches should be removed first so useful pieces do not remain trapped later.
For another tile-based puzzle where clearing order matters, Mahjong Firefly uses a similar focus on identifying available matching pairs.
Sweety Mahjong Score And Bonus Time
Some versions reward quicker matching with additional points.
That creates a small tension between playing quickly and thinking ahead. I would still prioritise keeping the board playable because a fast early score means little if the remaining tiles become difficult to match.
Sweety Mahjong Memory Mode
The official mobile version expanded beyond standard mahjong with a Sweety Memory mode.
Instead of focusing entirely on open mahjong tiles, this mode tests your ability to remember matching cards. It gives the mobile edition a little more variety than the basic browser release.
The official App Store listing also documents achievements, leaderboards and additional layouts in that edition.
Sweety Mahjong Strategy
Start by looking for pairs that uncover hidden tiles.
Try not to clear every exposed matching pair immediately. Sometimes leaving one available gives you another option later when the board becomes tighter.
It also helps to scan the full board before choosing a move. Candy-themed artwork makes tiles easy to recognise, but similar colours can still cause rushed mistakes.
Who Created Sweety Mahjong?
Sweety Mahjong was created by Code This Lab S.r.l.
The company’s original documentation identifies the game as an HTML5 mahjong project created in 2014 and designed to scale across common screen sizes and mobile devices.
App And Platforms
The browser version supports desktop, phone and tablet.
An official mobile edition is also available from Code This Lab. Apple’s listing supports iPhone and iPad and includes additional layouts, difficulty settings, achievements and Memory Mode.
The browser version uses HTML5 technology, allowing it to run without the old Flash plugin system.
Games Like Sweety Mahjong
The closest alternatives are mahjong-solitaire and tile-matching puzzle games.
Mahjong Firefly is a natural comparison because both games require you to identify available matching tiles while thinking about what each move exposes.
Players who prefer merging rather than matching can also try Cats Drop, where identical pieces combine through physics instead of being removed from a fixed board.
About This Game
Sweety Mahjong works best for players who enjoy calm puzzle games where careful choices matter more than reaction speed.
Its strongest feature is accessibility. The candy artwork makes the tiles easy to distinguish, while the traditional matching structure still gives each board enough planning to reward thoughtful play.
