Renegade Racing Browser Game

Renegade Racing is a side-view stunt racer by Not Doppler where you race rival cars over ramps, land flips to earn boost and spend your winnings on faster vehicles.

Description

Renegade Racing Browser Game brings back the wild side-view racer from Not Doppler, the studio behind Earn to Die. You line up against rival drivers on a track packed with ramps, piles of debris and wrecked cars, then race to the finish while doing flips in the air. Landing tricks fills your boost, and boost is how you pass people. The catch is that every flip is a risk, because a bad landing slows you down or wrecks your run while the others drive past.

How Racing And Tricks Fit Together

Renegade Racing is not a normal race where you just hold the gas. The track is full of jumps, and each jump is a chance to flip your car. Complete a flip and land on your wheels, and you earn boost. Use that boost on the straights to pull ahead.

Clean landings matter more than big tricks. A single flip landed well is better than a double flip that ends on your roof. The players who win most often are the ones who know exactly how many rotations a ramp allows.

Controls In The Browser

The web version is played with the keyboard. A common layout is:

  • Up Arrow or W: accelerate
  • Down Arrow or S: brake and reverse
  • Left and Right Arrows or A and D: tilt the car to flip and to line up landings
  • Boost Key: fire your stored boost, shown on the controls screen

Check the help screen when you start, since some copies place boost on Space and others on a different key.

Cars, Upgrades And Unlocks

Winning and placing well earns money, and money goes into upgrades and new vehicles. Upgrades usually cover the engine, the boost and how the car handles in the air. New cars range from light buggies that flip quickly to heavier trucks that push through debris.

Pick A Car For The Track

Fast-flipping cars suit tracks with lots of ramps, while heavy cars suit tracks crowded with wrecks. If you keep losing a race, try a different car before grinding more upgrades.

Tips To Win More Races

  • Count your flips. Learn which ramps allow one full flip and which allow two, then stick to that.
  • Save boost for long flat sections. Boosting into a ramp often throws you too high to land.
  • Tilt slightly forward before landing. Coming down level with the slope keeps your speed.
  • Ignore the rivals at the start. Races are won in the second half, after you have stored boost.
  • Replay a track you lost. The layout stays the same, so a second try is almost always faster.

Who Made Renegade Racing

Renegade Racing was made by Not Doppler, an Australian studio known for Earn to Die, Earn to Die 2 and Crash of Cars. It first launched as a web game in 2013 and went on to be played more than 180 million times across game sites, according to TouchArcade’s coverage of the mobile announcement.

In 2019 Not Doppler brought the game to iOS and Android. The mobile version was not a straight copy of the web game. It added online multiplayer, more than ten vehicles to unlock and upgrade, power-ups and skins earned by completing missions.

Why Renegade Racing Still Works As A Browser Game

The original web game came out when many browser games relied on Flash. Flash support ended on December 31, 2020, so versions that play today run on HTML5, which lets the game open in Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari with no plugin.

  • No download or account is needed for the browser game.
  • It runs on Chromebooks and older laptops, since the graphics are light.
  • Your money and upgrades are saved in browser storage, and clearing site data resets them.
  • On school or work devices, play only where your network rules allow games.

Browser Game Versus Mobile App

The browser game is quick, single player and perfect for a short session. The mobile app is the bigger package, with multiplayer races against other players, more vehicles and missions. The official Android release came out in 2019, though this page could not confirm its current Google Play listing, so the Play button here links to Earn to Die 2, another official Not Doppler driving game.

Keeping The Race Smooth

Physics racers need steady frame rates, since a stutter mid-jump can ruin a landing. Close extra tabs, leave hardware acceleration on in your browser settings, and use full screen if the game offers it.
