About Where’s My Mickey?
Guide water to Mickey's bucket with wind, clouds and pipes in Disney's 2013 puzzle game.
Mickey Mouse got a fresh, rubbery new look in 2013 with Paul Rudish’s animated shorts for Disney Channel, and Disney Mobile built a puzzle game around that style the same summer. Where’s My Mickey? launched on June 19 and 20, 2013 on iOS, Android and Windows devices, made by the Glendale studio behind Where’s My Water? and JellyCar. On Google Play it was sold as a $0.99 phone version, with a separate $1.99 tablet edition that carried 20 extra XL levels.
What Is Where’s My Mickey?
You cut paths through the ground to send water through pipes and into Mickey’s bucket, but unlike the earlier games this one happens above ground in the open air. Each level has three character stars in place of rubber ducks, and they jiggle and smile when water reaches them and look sadder the longer they stay dry. When Mickey gets his water, the level ends with a short animated gag.
Where’s My Mickey Moves The Puzzles Above Ground
Being outdoors gave the designers new tools. Clouds soak up water and carry it around the level, and you move them by controlling the wind. Rain falls from them on command, plants grow when watered, sand piles shift, and long hoses carry water across gaps. Where’s My Mickey? is the only game in the series built around weather, which is why fans who know Where’s My Water? still find its puzzles fresh. TouchArcade called it the best entry in the series at the time.
Mickey’s Story And Goofy’s Story
The launch content held three themed Mickey worlds of 20 levels each, with ideas such as a lemonade stand, fanning flames and growing plants. Goofy’s Story came as an in-app purchase and added Fizzle, a sugary soda that Goofy loves. Fizzle must never mix with water, and it kills any plant it touches, so these levels make you juggle two fluids that hate each other. The game also included a sandbox level, Van Goofy, where you could play with the tools freely.
Animated Shorts Tie It To The Mickey Mouse Series
Each level pack opened with a short story clip, and finished levels played little animations. Disney produced 19 shorts of about three and a half minutes for the game and the series, set in places like Tokyo, Paris, Switzerland, Beijing and Brazil, each drawn in its own art style. The team went back to Mickey’s black-and-white days for his personality, making him mischievous rather than a well-behaved mascot.
Why Where’s My Mickey? Left The Stores
Disney retired the game on February 8, 2018, and both the phone and tablet listings were removed from Google Play. After that date, purchase attempts for Goofy’s levels return an error. Disney gave no detailed reason, though it came during the same period that saw Where’s My Perry? and other older Disney Mobile games withdrawn. Installed copies can still run, but the old Android builds may not install on newer phones that only accept 64-bit apps.
Common Praise And Complaints
Reviewers praised the art, the humor and how the weather tools changed old ideas. The main complaints were the lack of cloud saves between phone and tablet, the split into two separate apps, and the Goofy content sitting behind a paywall. Families who played it remember it as one of Disney’s friendliest puzzle games, easy enough for children in the first world and tricky enough for adults later on.
